Character Building Quickstart Guide

Step 1 - Create a Shinobi Application

There are two methods to build a shinobi application: Building it manually, and generating it. Building it manually affords you greater control over the look and feel of the application, but if you’re looking to just get it done or if you are not confident in your skills with bbCode and/or HTML, it would be best to use the App Generator.

Method 1: Build the App Manually
To build the app manually, first, create a new post in [Only admins are allowed to see this link] Provide the information called for in the character template (located [Only admins are allowed to see this link]) in this post and submit it. You may utilize the provided code in the template to get a headstart, however, don’t feel constrained to the default look. Many of our members like to customize their applications to better suit their character’s aesthetic. The only thing required is simply filling out the required fields.

Method 2: Use the App Generator
The app generator is the site’s one-stop solution to putting apps together quickly. You can find it [Only admins are allowed to see this link] To build a shinobi application, select Shinobi for App Type. The required fields will appear below for you to fill out.

You can customize the font color and header image of this application using the fields at the top, but as far as the rest of it goes, it will closely resemble the default look given in the character template. If you wish to customize your app further, consider editing your code manually after you generate it. Using the Generate button at the bottom will display the bbCode for your application for you to edit further. If you instead wish to post it right away, click Create Post to be taken straight to the posting form with your application.

Once your shinobi application is complete, you’ll be assigned a tier. After that happens, your character is eligible for non-combat threads, and you may continue to the next step.

Step 2 - Select Skills

The best way to assign skills is by using the app generator. The app generator includes a calculator for allocating skill points based on your character’s tier. As you allocate skill points, you will see the calculated result on the bottom right change. This result contains three fields: the first is the number of points you have currently spent. The second is the maximum points allowed for the next-highest tier, and the third is the tier based on the next-highest step in maximum points per tier. There isn’t really any reason to leave any points on the table, so you should make sure the two numbers are equal and that the current tier is the tier that your character was assigned when their shinobi app was approved.

When you generate the skill list, hold onto that result for later. This will be inserted into your Jutsu Application, which we will cover in the next step. For more information on the rules about Skills, please read [Only admins are allowed to see this link]

Step 3 - Add Jutsu

To create a Jutsu application, utilize the template found [Only admins are allowed to see this link] to get started. The jutsu rules can be found [Only admins are allowed to see this link]. The jutsu rules page is important to read, as it details the number of jutsu your character is allowed to have, and the rank of those jutsu.

Once you determine the jutsu you can have, your creativity takes over. We provide a few resources to get started.

You may also create your own custom jutsu by utilizing the App Generator. Selecting Jutsu will allow the user to template a single jutsu: you can copy the output of this generator repeatedly into your Jutsu Application.

Remember to fill out the Character’s name, tier, and link to the shinobi app at the top of the Jutsu Application.

Once your Jutsu application is approved, your character will be completely eligible for play. Have fun!
